If you’re promoting your business on Instagram, you’ve probably heard the latest: You’ve Gotta Do Reels!! I know it can be frustrating when the algorithm changes. Suddenly, we have to switch up our strategy and learn something completely new. Instagram Reels were not something I did right away. To be quite honest, I resisted it for quite a while. But now that I’ve started using reels in my business, my social engagement has never been higher!
Here’s how to simplify Instagram reels so you can make them quickly and easily.
First things first – EVERYTHING IS CONTENT
The biggest obstacle I see for business owners who are struggling with Instagram reels is wondering what the heck to put in them! The amazing thing about reels is this: you can include ANYTHING. Really, everything is content.
I know you probably see a lot of people doing the same pointing and dancing thing. You do not have to do that. In fact, you don’t have to show your face at all in your reels (if you don’t want to!)
You can take a short video of a blue sky, take pictures throughout your day and string them together, or just show the scenery while you’re walking your dog.
Literally, it can be THAT easy.
Here are some examples of Instagram reels made easy:
A Day In The Life: Making ‘A Day In The Life’ reel can be super easy. Simply snap pictures or take short videos of what you’re experiencing in a day and edit them together in the Instagram Reel. Viola! Easy content.
Behind The Scenes: Give your followers a sneak-peek of what your business looks like behind the pretty social media feed. People LOVE to see how things really look.
Stories: This is easier than it sounds – you can literally sit in front of your camera and tell a story. That’s it! Reel-y simple.
How-To’s: Do you have a simple (or complicated) process that you think your followers would enjoy learning? A how-to reel would be PERFECT for showcasing that. Whether it be a tutorial on how to make a maple-almond latte or a how-to for editing senior pictures, a reel would be a natural choice for this content.
Hopefully, this gives you a little insight into ways you might be able to make reels work in YOUR business. Remember: it’s not about doing what everyone else is doing – it’s about creating content that is aligned with you, your business, and your customers.
